MOUNTAINS MEADOWS FORESTS

Large format landscape photographs realised in Germany, England, France, Iceland, Austria and Switzerland since January 2019.

The large-format colour photographs from the cycle Mountains, Meadows and Forests by the conceptual photographer Julian Kirschler initially show exactly what the title says: photographs of nature. In their digital exaggeration by the artist, however, these landscapes revisit topoi with romantic connotations: Kirschler's visual language dusts off access to home, location and interiority. And at the same time he visualises being on the move itself: In the flowing, fleeing moment of a FLOWshot, as the photographer calls his landscape photography from a moving position. And whose familiar perspective he bases on universally valid childhood memories: "It's the same perspective as when we watched the landscape fly past us on vibrating windows in cars, buses or trains."
